Application Process and Procedural Notices: All documentation may be submitted electronically-only and should be uploaded to the applicant portal; applicants should retain original, hardcopy documentation – applicants SHOULD NOT need to mail original hardcopies to the Office. Documentation DOES need to be notarized where indicated on a document.

Attorneys admitted in another U.S. jurisdiction: Colorado does not require admission in a reciprocal U.S. jurisdiction. If you are admitted by examination in another U.S. jurisdiction, graduated from an ABA-accredited law school, have been engaged in the authorized, active practice of law for at least 36 months of the 60 months preceding the date of submission of your application, and are in good standing, please see the directions for On Motion admission.

Please note that if you have never taken a bar examination for admission to practice law in the U.S., you do not qualify for admission On Motion; please email bleinfo@csc.state.co.us if you have any questions and need further guidance.

Foreign Law School Graduates and Non-ABA Law School Graduates: You must submit a Pre-Determination Application for Eligibility to apply for the Colorado bar exam. Please review and submit the Application for "Foreign Educated/Non-ABA Law School Preliminary Determination" found under "Admission Types" on the Home page.
